Mr. Drew Johnson has been appointed to the position of Assistant Director of TRIO Student Accessibility Services effective May 17th, 2021. In this role, Mr. Johnson will oversee the day-to-day operations for the TRIO Student Acce[SSS] Program and proactive support services for the Office of Student Accessibility Services, championing access for our first-generation and low-income scholars with learning differences, documented disabilities and/or medical conditions. Mr. Johnson will also join the SAS Director & Team in serving as a campus consultant for the Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Section 504, & accessibility best practices.
Prior to this role, Mr. Johnson served as the Program Coordinator for the TRIO McNair Scholars Program here at NCCU, as well as served as an adjunct professor in University College. In this role, he implemented and coordinated recruitment strategies, assessments of students' interests, needs, and goals. He also developed a curriculum to prepare students for graduate-level education and helped with the planning of graduate school visits, workshops, and cultural activities.
Mr. Johnson was a former student-athlete during his undergraduate years here at NCCU where he was a member of the Men’s Basketball team. He is also a member of the Higher Education Leadership Foundation, the Strategic Planning Task Force, and the Quality Enhancement Plan here at NCCU.
Mr. Johnson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from NCCU, his Masters in Higher Education from Lincoln University and he is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University.
