Join us for the inaugural Excellence without Excuse Legacy Luncheon, an invitation-only event honoring the extraordinary legacy of Dr. LeRoy T. Walker— first African American President of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee who left an indelible mark on athletics, education, and leadership.

This luncheon will convene university leaders, alumni, athletes, and community partners to celebrate Dr. Walker’s impact and advance his commitment to student success through scholarships, research, and athletic innovation.
Highlights include:

  • Keynote Address: Dr. Carolyn Walker-Hopp, daughter of Dr. Walker and esteemed educator, with reflections from Olympic Medalists and Champions.
  • Special Presentations: Hosted with the Durham Sports Commission to honor Dr. Walker’s legacy.
  • Archival Exhibit: Featuring Dr. Walker’s personal memorabilia and NCCU Track & Field archives curated by André D. Vann.
