SAS Faculty and Staff Information

Description

We appreciate all of our campus and community partners, especially our faculty and staff. The information listed below is designed to assist you when working with the SAS office and with students who are registered with our office or may need accommodations.

Description

When a student requests testing accommodations, on occasion the accommodations can be provided within the department. For example, if you, as the professor or instructor, are able to provide testing in another room for an extended time or for a lower-distraction setting and if this arrangement is agreeable to the student, this is fine.

If this cannot be provided and the student requests to take their test in the SAS office, then we ask students to speak with faculty first to inform the instructor they are requesting testing accommodations for an upcoming test and get approval of the intended test date. There is a Testing Instruction Sheet with more details about modified testing and a place for instructors to include any special instructions for the test. This form should be provided as a cover sheet for the test.

Your part as faculty is to:

  1. Discuss and approve the student’s intended test date for testing in the SAS Office.
  2. Upload the Testing Instruction Sheet and the test to Eagle Accommodate. Alternatively, you may email, fax, or hand-deliver the testing materials to SAS (Student Services Building, suite 120) preferably 24–48 hours before the student’s intended test date.

Students with disabilities (e.g., physical, learning, psychological, or chronic medical) who would like to request accommodations and services are required to register with the Office of Student Accessibility Services in suite 120 in the Student Services Building. Please contact the SAS office at 919-530-6325 or email [email protected]. If you are already registered in the office, you will need to return to the office each semester (during the first 2 weeks, preferably) to review your information and receive updated accommodations.
