Student Veterans
Enrolled NCCU students who are veterans and have completed military active duty with an honorable discharge will earn 60 hours of credit towards the maximum 120-hour community engagement academic requirement for graduation. To qualify for this credit, the student must present their military form DD-214 showing the discharge status to the contact person with the Registrar’s Office located on the first floor of the Shepard Administration Building.
National Guard and Military Reserve
Enrolled NCCU students who are current members of the Military Reserve or National Guard will earn 60 hours of credit towards the maximum 120-hour community engagement academic requirement for graduation. The qualification for this credit is based upon completion of basic training, job training and a minimum of a one-year cycle (one weekend per month and two weeks per year assignments). To qualify for this credit, the student must present their military form DD-214 showing the discharge status to the contact person with the Registrar’s Office located on the first floor of the Shepard Administration Building.
Active Duty
Enrolled NCCU students called to active duty must present a copy of their military orders to the contact person with the University Registrar. These students will earn 60 hours of credit towards the maximum 120-hour community engagement academic requirement for graduation.
What Is the Process?
Present a copy of your DD-214 or military documents to the contact person with the University Registrar’s office located on the first floor of the Shepard Administration Building.
Add hours for the above Military Engagement in Get Connected
- Log into Get Connected via myEOL and select the Service Opportunities.
- Type in "military" in the Search By section to create a quick search.
- Select View Details for NCCU Military Honorary Service Hours.
- Click the Respond button. Then, click the Submit Service Opportunity Response button.
- You will receive a notification to thank you for volunteering. Close it.
- Go to Add Hours or Track Hours.
- In the Service Opportunity dropdown, select NCCU Military Honorary Service Hours.
- For Date Served, post your discharge date.
- For Hours Served, document 60 hours.
- Omit Miles Traveled.
- Select Not Applicable (n/a) for the User Groups.
- In Description, document the branch of the military.
- Click the Submit Hour Entry button.
Your pending hours are now ready for approval. Please contact the person who verified your military credentials to approve your hours.
