NCCU's Office of International Affairs (OIA) will kick off International Education Week (IEW) on November 18, 2024, with a visit from Ambassador Mattie R. Sharpless.
Ambassador Mattie R. Sharpless (Ret.) is a former U.S. ambassador to the Central African Republic. She was appointed by President George H. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 23, 2001. She is a proud alumna of NCCU from the School of Business. She represents a cohort of African American female U.S. Ambassadors “firsts” who have achieved greatness in U.S. diplomacy.
