UNC-TV PBS will premiere “Focus on the Future: Innovations at NC's Historically Minority-Serving Institutions” featuring North Carolina Central University Chancellor Johnson O. Akinleye, University of North Carolina System leaders, and chancellors of the System’s other five Historically Minority-Serving Institutions (HMSIs) on Tuesday, Oct 22, at 8 pm. With hosts Shannon Vickery and Deborah Holt Noel, the group will discuss innovations that are creating opportunities for students and communities.
The hour-long show will explore how North Carolina’s public HMSIs provide affordable, high-quality, and research-driven educational opportunities. Viewers will also discover ways in which these universities are partnering with communities and businesses to make a greater influence on the state.
In addition to the roundtable discussion, informative featurettes explore such areas as affordability, return on investment, partnerships and business collaborations, and unique culture and programming for student success at each participating university.
