Date Published:

North Carolina Central University has been recognized by the Campus Vote Project (CVP) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education as a Voter Friendly Campus for 2025–2026.

NCCU joins 272 institutions nationwide, including 13 HBCUs and 47 community colleges, that worked to engage and empower students in the 2024 election. This national designation honors campuses that developed nonpartisan voter engagement plans, educated students about the voting process, and reflected on ways to strengthen civic participation in the years ahead.

To earn this distinction, each institution completed a rigorous, multi-step process that included:

  • Forming a campus-wide, nonpartisan coalition to engage student voters.
  • Creating and implementing a comprehensive voter education and engagement plan.
  • Hosting events and initiatives that encouraged registration, informed decision-making, and active participation.
  • Submitting a final reflective report on successes, lessons learned, and next steps for sustaining student involvement.

The Voter Friendly Campus designation is valid through December 2026, marking a continued commitment to fostering civic awareness and engagement on college campuses across the nation.
