The deadline for enrolling or waiving the Student Blue Health insurance plan for the Spring 2024 semester is January 31, 2024. You will be automatically enrolled in the Student Blue Health insurance plan and responsible for the insurance premium of $1,392.40 if you miss this deadline!
Note: Distance education/online-only are not eligible for student health insurance and are not billed automatically or enrolled in the insurance.
If you are enrolled in six or more "on-campus" credit hours, you will be charged for Blue Cross Blue Shield–Student Blue insurance when you register, even if you already have health insurance coverage. However, if you do not need the Student Blue coverage, you can waive the automatic policy by visiting studentbluenc.com/nccu. Once your waiver is approved, the amount of the Student Blue insurance premium will be credited to your student account.
If you are a student without health insurance of your own or through your parent or guardian, you can opt for Blue Cross Blue Shield–Student Blue insurance. To learn more about Student Blue or the waiver process, please visit studentbluenc.com/nccu if you are enrolling for the academic school year.
Please send any questions concerning insurance, claims or billing inquiries to [email protected] or [email protected] or you can call the insurance office at the Student Health Center at 919-530-5427.
How to Waive or Provide Proof of Insurance
Please see the steps below to provide proof of insurance and request an insurance waiver:
- Go to studentbluenc.com/NCCU. You must go to the Student Blue Website to waive or enroll (no exceptions).
- New students, please choose "New Student Blue User."
- Returning students, please choose "Already a Student Blue User."
- Please click "Waive" if you would like to waive the insurance. Please choose "Enroll" if you would like to enroll. (The website will guide you through the process for both waiving and enrolling).
- If your waiver is approved before the tuition bills are generated you will still see the charge on the bill; it will still be up to 7–10 business days before it is credited.
- Once you complete the waiver or enroll, you will be sent an email confirming the option that was chosen.
- You must waive or enroll every semester.
