National Estate Planning Awareness Week: October 16-22, 2023

Date Published:

National Estate Planning Awareness Week is the week of October 16! Your colleagues in the NCCU Division of Advancement are here to assist if you have questions about estate planning. You may also like to utilize our free service called FreeWill to create your own legal will at no charge!

Estate planning encompasses the growth, conservation and transfer of an individual’s wealth through the creation and maintenance of an “estate plan.” The purpose of estate planning is to develop a strategy that will maintain the financial security of individuals through their lifetime and ensure the intended transfer of their property and assets at death while taking into consideration the unique circumstances of the family and the potential costs of different methods. It also ensures that the non-profits that you are passionate about are supported via your legacy giving, such as your church, NCCU or other organizations.

Access your own free Estate Planning Guide from your friends in the NCCU Division of Advancement!

All too often, we hear:

  • "I'm too young to do estate planning."
  • "All my property is titled in joint tenancy with my spouse, so I don't need a will."
  • "Estate planning is only for the super-rich."
  • "Estate planning is too complicated and expensive."
  • "We did our wills right after we got married 30 years ago and see no need for further planning."
  • “I’m single. Why do I need an estate plan?”

You are welcome to review a wide array of resources and information via the NCCU Planned Giving website.

Contact your friends at the NCCU Division of Advancement to learn more about the variety of ways you can establish your estate plans and honor your legacy! Email us for a confidential conversation. Eagle Pride!
