North Carolina Central University Transportation provides vehicle and shuttle support for approved university-related activities. All transportation requests must be submitted in advance and are subject to vehicle availability, driver availability, and operational approval. Submission of a request does not guarantee service until confirmation is provided by NCCU Transportation via email.

To request transportation services, please complete the Transportation Request Form in full. Requests should be submitted at least 14 days prior to the requested service date. Late submissions may not be accommodated or be subject to late reservation fees.  Once reviewed, Transportation staff will contact you to confirm approval or request additional information via email. NCCU Transportation is a private transportation service for NCCU students, faculty, and staff and does not lease buses to external customers. Non-NCCU entities should contact their NCCU departmental contact for the reservation of NCCU vehicles. Please note: Transportation services may be delayed or cancelled due to weather, emergencies, or operational needs.

Requests not submitted at least seven working days before the date of travel will be charged a $100.00 late reservation fee per day, per reservation day for vans and passenger vehicles and a $200.00 late fee per bus, per days of reservation

The requesting department is responsible for the lodging cost for the driver(s), and the driver(s) must have their own room. Reservation requests without a confirmed driver room at submission are subject to cancellation if the driver room is not confirmed at least 72 hours prior to departure date. Transportation will cover the costs of any tolls.

Itineraries must include the departmental contact's office and cell number. Please refer to the below Transportation itinerary template for assistance when drafting your itinerary.

Due to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMSCA) regulation and NCCU policy, NCCU transportation drivers cannot be on duty for more than 14 hours, including travel and waiting time. If a trip is to last more than 14 hours, we will have to charge $252.00 per day for an extra driver.

Additional fees will be applied for the following:

  • If a van or bus is not returned cleaned, the department will charge a cleaning fee of $300.00 per shuttle/bus and $150.00 per van.
  • The requesting department is responsible for any fees associated with vehicle parking.

Due to safety concerns related to allergies and choking hazards, NCCU Transportation does not permit students to eat or drink on Transportation vehicles. The operator reserves the right to ask passengers to dispose of any open food or drink before boarding the vehicle. Passengers will be asked not to eat on the bus and refrain from boarding the vehicle with any open containers that cannot be resealed. Only under special circumstances will eating/drinking be allowed on the vehicles.

There is a cancellation fee of $50.00 for van requests and $400.00 for shuttle/bus requests if not cancelled within 72 hours.
