Tribeta Biology Honor Society, NCCU, proudly presents a partnership event: namely, an information session on the UNC MD PhD program at UNC-Chapel Hill on Thursday, Nov 21, at 6:00 pm in Room 1111, MTSC (UNC-Chapel Hill). This is an inaugural event for the yearlong partnership between NCCU and the UNC MD PhD program.
A presentation by UNC MD/PhD program directors will provide an overview of the MD/PhD pathway (e.g., why to do it and how can you be a competitive applicant). Current MD/PhD students at various stages of completion will be part of the team to foster discussion. Other details of the year-long program are as follows:
Winter 2019/Early Spring 2020
NCCU students are encouraged to attend workshops on the UNC campus. These workshops will be designed by the UNC-Chapel Hill AIMS group (current MD/PhD students) in collaboration with NCCU and will also be open to all undergrads in the UNC system. Workshops can include editing personal statements and walking through the application process (e.g., what application looks like, what schools look for, and what the interviews are like), among other topics.
NCCU students are encouraged to attend a half-day workshop on UNC campus in this area.
Spring 2020
Any NCCU student preparing an application for MD/PhD programs can schedule a time to meet with program directors and the program specialist at UNC-Chapel Hill. Tribeta Biology Honor Society will coordinate this effort as needed.
Participate, disseminate the information, and register for further guidance. For more information, please contact Ms. Auriel Pharr (apharr3@eagles.nccu.edu) or Dr. Damodaran (tdamodar@nccu.edu).
